Whanau/Hapu:Ngati Rangi, Ngati Uepohatu Background:I work at the University of Waikato as the Pro Vice Chancellor Maori and as a Professor of Education and Maori Development. I am interested in supporting the next generations to succeed while retaining the positive values of Ngati Porou. Aspirations for Ngati Porou:Whanau, hapu and marae that are strong in their identities, steeped in te reo ake o Ngati Porou, are healthy, vibrant, principled, generous, hard working, can sing in harmony and are smart in their thinking and actions; and an iwi that builds on the strengths of whanau, hapu and marae and has capability to manage assets, is principled in its dealings with others, has robust relationships, has strong succession strategies, can empower the whanau, hapu and marae and can solve problems rather than create problems. |
