Ngati Porou East Coast 2009 Club rugby... is about to start!
Well well well...another season of fantastic rugby begins in two weeks up and down the length of the East Coast. I have clicked into the ECRU web page to get up to date information of the timetable for the clubs... and there is nothing available at this time. However I will endeavour as I must, to obtain a timetable to be added to the next Te Haeata blog for your perusal.
Reflecting back to 2008, that Hikurangi team is just on to it alright. However ALL the teams are all champions in my view and I am wondering what will the state of the playing numbers and team numbers be like this 2009 season. I do know that there were SOME player number difficulties earlier in the 2008 season, but as the season went on it appeared to iron itself out...but STILL, will there be a number concerns hanging over the heads of the clubs in 2009? We shall see.
There are seven awesome clubs that play the two rounds, Hikurangi, Tokararangi, Hicks Bay, Ruatoria CITY, Waiapu, Uawa and Tokomaru Bay United... and for those people outside of NgatiPorou... IF you want to see Maori rugby at its raw rugged level excellence... get along to the East Coast and spend a wonderful afternoon, come rain, hail, tornado, hurricane, tsunami or snow.... you will be well entertained. Not only by what will be happening on the field... but...off it as well.
AND of course the big 'take' about the ECRU and the PBRU amalgamating... well THATS another blog.
Good luck to all the managers, players and teams...(and just a plug for Ruatoria C.I.T.Y... come on CITY) and all those naati koroua, kuia, maatua, whanau and tamariki/mokopuna who tautoko...and oh, and those ringawera who cook all the kai up and down the coast for the after match functions... and the ringa raupa... have an awesome 2009 club season. Until the next blog...remember you are welcome to comment... kia kaha a tatau tima katoa... kia ora tatau...Wiremu!
